Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a very frequent problem, it causes suffering to patients, overflows doctors' offices, involves significant health expenditure and sick leave, with the aggravating factor that health expenditure on their care is not very useful since the current model of comprehension and treatment of the problem does not work.

Chronic pain and fatigue

It is estimated that between 2.5 - 5% of the population in Spain is diagnosed with fibromyalgia. However, there is no official national registry.

Fibromyalgia is characterized by a series of symptoms such as widespread musculoskeletal pain, chronic fatigue, intestinal problems, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, etc.

It can usually be related to diet, chronic stress, chronic injury, medication abuse, immune system, neurological and intestinal pathologies.

There are often diagnoses based, among others, on sensitivity to certain "trigger points" in the body.

The causes of fibromyalgia are currently unknown and research is needed in this field.
